Xavier Boscher is a multifaceted French musician, writer, and painter.
A guitarist, keyboardist, and bassist, he has been active since 1999 in the realms of progressive rock and metal, both as a solo artist and as part of collaborative projects such as MISANTHROPE and MAX ENIX.
With MISANTHROPE, he recorded two albums (Immortel and Recueil d’écueils) and took part in European tours alongside major bands such as SEPTICFLESH. More recently, he contributed to the double album Far From Home by Max Enix, alongside iconic international musicians including Michael Romeo (SYMPHONY X), Per Nilsson (SCAR SYMMETRY, MESHUGGAH), Mattias Eklundh (FREAK KITCHEN), Derek Sherinian (ALICE COOPER, DREAM THEATER), and Fabio Lione (ANGRA, RHAPSODY OF FIRE).
His solo career began with a unique blend of pop, rock, and new-age influences, which quickly caught the attention of the Plaza Mayor Company label. A composer and songwriter, he is also a poet and lyricist. In 2009, he founded Orfeo’lab, an independent structure dedicated to the production and distribution of his work. Between 2013 and 2016, he produced several French pop artists (Mlle Julie, Deborah Hofer, Mon ami Mio…).
In 2017, he returned to instrumental progressive music with Embryogenesis, his 10th album, which was praised by the specialized press. This marked the beginning of a prolific phase, including the conceptual series Zoologica Duodecim(launched in 2018) and albums such as Eternity, Waterscapes, Earthscapes, Firescapes, and Skyscapes — a tetralogy exploring the elements.
The year 2022 marked a turning point, with no fewer than ten releases, including Cosmic Variations, Twin Flames, Seasons, and Harmonies Astrales. In 2023, he released Starseeds I and a new installment of Zoologica Duodecim. In 2024, Xavier completed the Starseeds series with volumes III and IV, and published a live album (Live Among the Stars) as well as two new EPs (Garden of Cosmic Speculation and Paracosm).
Today, Xavier Boscher stands out as a key figure in the French instrumental progressive scene, combining musical virtuosity, poetic sensibility, and a distinctive visual universe.
